CREST/IHEC, Team Japan
The CREST/IHEC, Team Japan is the research project supported by the CREST program "Development of Fundamental Technologies for Diagnosis and Therapy Based upon Epigenome Analysis (Disease Epigenome)" of the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED). CREST stands for "Core Research for Evolutional Science and Technology". The CREST program was launched under the strategic sector from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, Japan (MEXT). The CREST program “Disease Epigenome” started in October 2011, and will continue until 2018. The program is funded with an amount of about 50-60 million US Dollars by AMED.
The CREST/IHEC, Team Japan will produce reference epigenomes of human cells for IHEC, specializing in analysis of gastrointestinal epithelial cells, vascular endothelial cells, and cells of reproductive organs.
