Welcome to Brussels!
IHEC Successfully holds Annual Meeting 2015 in Brussels, Belgium.
From September 7-9, 2015 the EU-funded BLUEPRINT project had the pleasure to host this year’s annual meeting and to welcome IHEC members from around the globe at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Brussels. The conference marked the final stage of the BLUEPRINT project.
The three-day meeting offered various sessions including country updates, workgroup meetings and reports as well as the open Science Days, which provided high level talks on the major outcomes of the BLUEPRINT project as well as presenting state-of-the-art research in the field of epigenomics and closely related areas.
“BLUEPRINT has produced new scientific outcomes and a better understanding of blood cell disease than we could have imagined at the outset,” said BLUEPRINT coordinator Professor Hendrik (Henk) Stunnenberg from Radboud University, Nijmegen, The Netherlands and head of this year’s local organising team. “We have forged an alliance of researchers and innovative companies from around Europe and, working closely with international partners, we already see results that will improve the lives of patients. I’ve been honoured to coordinate such a diligent, creative and effective group that has delivered beyond all expectation.”
“This year’s conference once again showed the importance of personal meetings and creative exchange among the researchers” Eric Marcotte (CIHR), Chair of the IHEC Executive Committee commented on the importance of this annual in-person meeting. "The consortium has made incredible progress toward its goals, with many important milestones to look forward to in the the coming months."
After a successful conference the IHEC consortium is looking forward to the upcoming tasks and to the next annual meeting in October 2017 in Berlin, Germany.
